Poncho - SOLD

Poncho is about as loud as the first time you were introduced to a drum set! If you like riding down the trail and grabbing some attention, Poncho will do the trick. He has seen outside miles from Texas to Ohio. He has been ridden both english and western and knows how to lay down, and sit on command. Worried he may be too tall to get on, just lay him down with a simple cue, and save yourself the hassle of a knee replacement. Wanting to know the history of this horse? Please read.

I bought this gelding over a year ago, off of a ranch in Texas where he had plenty of using miles outside. Last spring and summer, he was used as transportation back and forth to work. He was ridden alongside a main highway, and did not shy at the semis, or odd things on the side of the road. I sold Poncho to a family late summer last year. This winter, the family that purchased him, reached out and mentioned that they were looking for something that they would be able to sort, and learn to rope off of. I brought Poncho back into training in November. He has been coming along very well in the arena and rides off of your leg and seat cues. Would I consider him a beginner horse?? No. Why? He is a forward mover, and sensitive to your leg and seat. If you are an intermediate or experienced rider, you would appreciate his body control and the way he reads you as a rider. He is an uphill built gelding, so I could see him go into the western dressage. He is excellent on the trail, crossing water, bridges, brush, debris etc. If you are still reading, thank you. While Poncho has not offered to buck or run off, this is not one I would feel comfortable using as a lesson horse, or putting my daughter on so likewise- would not recommend him as a kids horse. I have had this horse for the last year hoping to get him to this point, but have learned to not try making a horse something they don’t want to be (example: forward mover into a slow roller). If you enjoy a forward mover, here you go. Poncho will frame up, or ride around supple on a drape rein. He will slow down into a rocker chair type lope or slower jog, but if you are riding more forward in your seat and leg, so will he. If this is the type of horse you enjoy, feel free to come try him.
